In which I ask you to answer one easy question.

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month and it’s got me wondering how many people I know actually have library cards. So, I’ve decided to do a fun (and very unscientific) survey to find out.

If you’re reading this, please comment on whether or not you have an active public library card.

I will reveal the (completely anonymised) results in a future blog post at the end of the month.

I actually have two. One for a local library that’s part of the Mid York Library System and the other with another local library that’s part of the Four County Library System.

I’ve had a library card everywhere I’ve lived for the past 52 years (it would be longer except you had to be at least 5 before you could have one of your own in the town where I grew up. We went to get it on my birthday and I still remember how excited I was.) It’s always one of the first things I do when I move somewhere new.

On a side note: I came to check out your blog after reading your comment on The Bloggess about trying to bring a llama into a bookstore for a storytime event. I did the same thing! Luckily it was a nice day so we could move outside, but I still think the manager was being unreasonable. 🙂

There should be more llamas in bookstores, don’t you think?

I have two library cards in my wallet, and that is enough for all the libraries in the county in which I live.😀
But, I also work at a library, so it’s kind of expected.🙃

For library card sign up month, we are offering a free stylus/pen with ever new or replacement card. I was surprised to see how many people are already signing up just to get a free pen.🤨

Because I work for a university library my staff ID doubles as a library card. That feels like cheating but it also gets used regularly. I also have a card for the local public library which also gets used regularly. I have a weekly Wednesday appointment at one of the public library branches and I’m always either returning something or checking something out or both.
I just wish I could sign up again to celebrate the month.
